Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have lane closures on N. Broadway, Walnut, Clinch, Union, and Cumberland.

(North Knoxville) North Broadway Lane Closures [February 7] – KUB crews will close a short section of the curbside, northbound lane of N. Broadway between Old Broadway NE at Harvey Drive and Jacksboro Pike from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., on Sunday, February, 7, as repairs are made to the water distribution system in the area. One northbound lane and both southbound lanes will remain open during this time. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.   

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Walnut Street Lane Closure [Extended February 8-12] – KUB and its contractor will implement a closure of the northbound lane of Walnut Street between Wall Avenue and Union Avenue from 6 a.m., Monday, February 8, until 6 p.m., Friday, February 12, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Southbound traffic will be permitted on Walnut Street. Parking garage access will be maintained on to the Market Square Garage. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Clinch Avenue Road Closures UPDATED [February 8-19] – KUB and its contractor will maintain the following road closures on Clinch Avenue as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project: 

• Clinch Avenue between Market Street and Walnut Street – remains closed until 6 p.m. Friday, February 12 
• Clinch Avenue between Walnut Street and Locust Street – remains closed until 6 p.m. Friday, February 12 
• Clinch Avenue between Locust Street and Henley Street – remains closed until 6 p.m. Friday, February 19 

All intersections remain open. Alternate routes include S. Gay Street, Cumberland Avenue, Walnut Street, and Union Avenue. Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary. Please see attached map for more detailed traffic information. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Union Avenue Road  Closure [February 8-26] – KUB and its contractor will close a short section of Union Avenue between Walnut Street and Locust Street from 6 a.m., Monday, February 8, until 6 p.m., Friday, February 26, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. Alternate routes include Locust Street, W. Church Avenue, and Walnut Street. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Cumberland Avenue Lane Closure [February 10] – KUB and its contractor will implement a lane closure of the eastbound, curbside lane of Cumberland Avenue between Eleventh Street and Henley Street from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., on Wednesday, February 10, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. 

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
