KAT to Offer New Outreach and Listening Sessions

Posted: 10/05/2016
With the success of the Trolleys on Tap outreach sessions, Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) is expanding outreach to several downtown neighborhoods, heading out to coffee shops and craft breweries to hear from close-in neighborhood residents about transit in Knoxville.  The “Transit on Tap” sessions will run from October through mid November and reach locations near Fourth and Gill, Old North Knox, Island Home, and Downtown North/Central Ave.

“Our Trolleys on Tap outreach indicated that there were a lot of people in these close-in neighborhoods who were interested in transit services,” says Dawn Distler, Director of Transit for the City of Knoxville.  “This is our opportunity to find out what’s working, what’s keeping people from riding, and what we can do to make our service more enticing.”

As with the Trolleys on Tap program, Transit on Tap will be going out to places popular with neighborhood locals, including Remedy Coffee on Tyson Place, K Brew on Broadway, and Schulz Brau Brewing on Bernard Street.  Erasable maps will allow people to draw routes, emphasize areas, and list priorities.  In addition, a brief online survey will be available soon for anyone who is unable to attend a Transit on Tap session. As with the previous outreach, all comments, map drawings, and survey results will be posted regularly on KAT’s blog, found at www.knoxvilletn.gov/katblog.
