Mayor Madeline Rogero, City Council members and other officials will formally open a new playground on Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. at Dr. E.V. Davidson Community Center in East Knoxville at 3124 Wilson Ave.
With the addition of the 2,168-square-foot structure, which cost $39,000, all City-owned community centers now have outdoor playgrounds.
Dr. E.V. Davidson Community Center was renovated and opened in 2005 after the City purchased it from the YMCA. The new playground being opened Tuesday was paid for with City capital funds designated to either replace worn play structures, or, in cases such as this, build new amenities.
