KUB crews will reduce a short section of Clinch Avenue to one alternating lane of traffic between Twentieth Street and Twenty-First Street between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily from Friday, November 5, until Thursday, November 12, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. The westbound lane will be closed, while the eastbound lane remains open and used to alternate traffic. Access to businesses and parking areas will be maintained, and no work will be performed on the weekend.
KUB and its contractor have closed the westbound lane of W. Hill Avenue between S. Gay Street and State Street starting today, November 4, until 6 p.m., Friday, November 13, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. The previously closed eastbound lane of this section of W. Hill Avenue has been reopened. The BB&T Parking Garage exits remain open, and traffic will be directed east on West Hill Avenue. Please see attached map for more detailed traffic information. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.
Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to proceed with caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
