KUB Road/Lane Closures Oct. 17-23

Posted: 10/16/2015
Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have road/lane closures at N. Cherry St, Cumberland Ave. and W. Forest Blvd.

(North Knoxville) N. Cherry Street Road Closure [October 17] – KUB and its contractor will close a short section of N. Cherry Street between Cecil Avenue and Hoitt Avenue from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., on Saturday, October 17, as a section of water main is relocated in support of a City of Knoxville storm drainage improvement project. The intersection of Cecil Avenue and N. Cherry Street will be maintained as one alternating lane of traffic during this time, and local traffic access will be maintained on Brown Street. Alternate routes include Hoitt Avenue, Crockett Street, and Cecil Avenue.

(UT Area) Cumberland Avenue Closures [October 17] – KUB and its contractor will close a short section of the inside, westbound lane of Cumberland Avenue between Nineteenth Street and Twentieth Street from 8-10 a.m., on Saturday, October 17, as work is performed on the wastewater collection system in the area. One westbound lane and both eastbound lanes will be open during this time.

(West Knoxville) West Forest Boulevard Lane Closures [October 19-23] – KUB crews will implement lane closures on West Forest Boulevard between Piney Grove Church Road and Middlebrook Pike from  7 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, October 19-23, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. This will be the final week of work for these upgrades in the West Forest Boulevard neighborhood (weather permitting).

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas. More information on this and other KUB construction projects can be found at www.kub.org.
