March 10, 2014 - Coinciding with the University of Tennessee's spring break, 16th Street will be closed between Cumberland Avenue and White Avenue from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. March 15-23.
A contractor will be installing a communication duct-bank, or groups of conduits to protect cabling, after digging a 30-inch-wide trench across the street.
The work is part of UT's renovation of Sophronia Strong Hall into a nine-story 268,000-square-foot academic building. The building will be home to the Anthropology and Earth and Planetary Sciences departments and will include new lab facilities.
