Jackson Ave. Streetscape Project Public Meeting Mar. 21

Posted: 03/04/2013
A public meeting on the Jackson Ave. Streetscape Project will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 21st in The Emporium Center located at 100 S. Gay St.

City officials will discuss the scope and design of the proposed Jackson Avenue Streetscape project. This project will run from World's Fair Park to the west end of the Jackson Avenue ramps. The project originated in 2005 through funding from a Tennessee Department of Transportation High Priority Project for the Upper Second Creek/Old City Greenway.

The TDOT contract calls for the City of Knoxville to design and construct a pedestrian connection of approximately 2,400 linear feet from the intersection of World's Fair Park Drive and Grand Avenue to the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Gay Street. The proposed project will accomplish the desired pedestrian connection, and the streetscape improvements will encourage redevelopment along the Jackson Avenue corridor.
