Jazz on the Square Wraps Up with Labor Day Finale

Posted: 08/30/2012
The 2012 Jazz on the Square series will conclude with a Labor Day concert featuring the entire Knoxville Jazz Orchestra at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3rd. The KJO will perform at the Bill Lyons Pavilion on Market Square, and the program will feature works by Jimmy Van Heusen, Jerome Kern, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Donald Brown and others.

The concert is free and open to the public and serves as the grand finale for the second season of the summer concert series, presented by Prestige Cleaners, Stellar Visions and Sound, and the City of Knoxville.

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is a 17-piece big band made up of professional musicians from across the region. Since its inception in 1999, the orchestra has performed dozens of concerts in East Tennessee, appeared at major jazz festivals in Europe, performed and recorded with internationally acclaimed artists, and released three critically acclaimed CD recordings.
