Next Tour de Fleur Set for August 6, 2011

Posted: 08/05/2011
The City of Knoxville and Knox County Parks and Recreation Departments will continue the "Tour de Fleur" Wildflower Walking Series this weekend.

The two departments are hosting a free 1.5-mile wildflower walk this Saturday, August 6, at 10 a.m. on Ten Mile Creek Greenway as part of the Tour de Fleur series. Walkers will meet at the gazebo in Walker Springs Park, located at 700 Kidder Lane.

Led by Lyn Bales, Ijams Nature Center naturalist, the walk will showcase varieties of wildflowers through wooded trails along the wetlands of Ten Mile Creek.

This portion of the greenway is very flat and therefore an easy walk. Participants are encouraged to wear hats and sunscreen, as there are some short sections in the sun.

The Tour de Fleur walks have been held on Saturdays once a month since April and are led by a nature guide.

All walks are free and appropriate for all skill levels. Both Will Skelton and Ten Mile Creek Greenways are trails that run along City of Knoxville and Knox County properties.
