Knoxville Mayor Daniel Brown and Police Chief David Rausch named Knoxville Police Department Evidence Technician Beth Goodman the March Civilian Employee of the Month.

Ms. Goodman has been with the department since November 2004.

Chief Rausch said that on March 18, 2011, at approximately 2:40 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle burglary call in the parking lot of West Town Mall. Officers were able to obtain the description of the suspect's vehicle and BOLO'd that information to all officers. Ms. Goodman was processing the crime scene at a Chapman Highway business where a vehicle had also been burglarized. After hearing the BOLO, Ms. Goodman notified the Sergeant that the suspect's vehicle description from the Chapman Highway incident matched the description of the suspect from the Kingston Pike incident.

Chief Rausch said, "At approximately 6:40 p.m., Ms. Goodman pulled into the Ned McWherter Park and noticed the suspect's vehicle in the parking lot."

"Ms. Goodman immediately called for officers to respond to the scene," said Chief Rausch.

Once on the scene officers were able to detain the suspect without incident. The suspect was charged with two counts of Vehicle Burglary, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Theft.

Chief Rausch said, "Ms. Goodman took the initiative to actively be on the lookout for this suspect's vehicle and her good work assisted in clearing up at least two vehicle burglaries and the return of the victim's property." Mayor Brown said, "We congratulate Ms. Goodman on a job well done."
