Posted: 06/14/2010
City of Knoxville 311 Director Russ Jensen presented a proclamation to Staff Sgt. Dana Rothstein and Maj. Jason Deel, on Monday celebrating the 235th anniversary of the creation of the United States Army.

Mayor Bill Haslam publicly recognized the Army's 235th birthday in the document and proclaimed June 14, 2010, as "United States Army Day" in the City of Knoxville.

The Continental Congress established the "American Continental Army," on June 14, 1775 to defend the thirteen colonies during the American Revolution and selected George Washington to be its first commander.
