Public Meeting Set March 30 for Ten-Year Plan

Posted: 03/24/2009
The Mayor's Office of the Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness will host a public meeting on Monday, March 30 to discuss issues related to the development and operation of permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless individuals. The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 30, at Cherokee Health Systems offices at 2018 Western Avenue.

Among those who will be at the meeting are developers and operators of permanent supportive housing, social service providers, neighborhood leaders and members of city and county governing bodies.

The meeting is a reframed version of one that was originally scheduled on March 12, to discuss the criteria for considering potential sites for permanent supportive housing. That will not be discussed at this meeting. Instead, the discussion will center on two primary questions:

What does each permanent supportive housing development need to do in order to be a good neighbor in the specific community in which it is located?

What do permanent supportive housing developments need from the neighborhoods where they operate in order to best be incorporated into the neighborhood system?
