2009 Knoxville Youth Summit Jan. 31

Posted: 01/09/2009
The 2009 Knoxville Youth Summit is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Bearden High School from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Hundreds of high school students from across Knox County in one place will participate in games, enjoy giveaways, food, inspirational speakers and will have the chance to tell community leaders, face-to-face about their ideas.

Each year, the Knoxville Youth Summit inspires hundreds of teens across Knox County to make a difference in their communities and schools and this year they are hosting a contest for students to produce Public Service Announcements (PSAs) or 15 and 30 second commercials to convince other teens to get involved.

The focus for the 2009 Youth Summit is to address student apathy in schools with "Who Cares?" as the theme for this year's event. High School students in grades 9-12 are eligible to produce a 15 or 30 second video advertisement or PSA to promote their cause, organization or ideas about how to improve the community.

The 2009 Knoxville Youth Summit is FREE and lunch is provided. It is open to individuals or church youth groups, school classes and clubs. Pre-Registration is required.

The Summit is hosted by the Youth Action Concil, Metropolitan Drug Commission, Knox County Council PTA and the Knoxville Chamber.
