CrossKnox 15K Race and 5K Walk This Saturday

Posted: 11/21/2008
The Mercy Health Partners CrossKnox 15K Race and 5K Walk will take place this Saturday, November 22 at 8:30 a.m.

The point-to-point course begins at the Alex Haley statue in Morningside Park and - traveling west along several City of Knoxville greenways - ends 9.3 miles away at Bearden Elementary School. A three-mile section of the race will be run along the Tennessee River on the James White and Neyland Greenways.

Walkers will follow the same course until they reach the Second Creek Greenway where they will turn for World's Fair Park and the conclusion of the walk.

Mercy Health Partners and The City of Knoxville's Parks and Recreation Division are presenting this event.

More than 400 runners and walkers have already registered for the race that will run from East Knoxville to West Knoxville entirely on city greenways.

All runners and walkers will receive a long-sleeve dri-balance shirt.

Runners and walkers will be transported from Bearden Elementary and World's Fair Park back to Morningside Park by bus.

Runners can still register for the race on Friday, Nov. 21, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Tyson Park and on Saturday from 7 a.m. - 8 a.m. at Morningside Park.

Parking will be available at Regency Business Park at 900 E. Hill Avenue.
