Mayor Bets with Piscataway Mayor

Posted: 04/03/2007
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Piscataway, N.J. Mayor Brian C. Wahler have a friendly bet on the outcome of tonight's NCAA Championship game between the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers and the Rutgers University Lady Knights.

If the Lady Vols prevail Wahler would wear a UT shirt and hat to his next city council meeting while Haslam would sport the scarlet colors of Rutgers at his next city council meeting, in the unlikely event that Rutgers wins. "I know that Coach Summitt and Lady Volunteers won't let me down," Haslam said, "and I look forward to sending Mayor Wahler a new Lady Vols T-Shirt to wear at his next council meeting." Wahler responded, "The Lady Knights, Coach Vivian Stringer, and the Rutgers coaching staff are to be congratulated no matter what the outcome is, although I have no doubt as to what the outcome will be - Lady Knights, all the way!"
