Two KPD Employees Honored For Their Service to the Department

Posted: 06/27/2006
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Chief Sterling Owen named June Fulford and Karen Mitchell the Civilian Employees of the Month for April. Ms. Fulford has been with the department since May 1982 and Ms. Mitchell has been with KPD since June 2003.

Chief Owen said that Ms. Fulford and Ms. Mitchell are an invaluable part of the police department. They process the payroll for approximately 500 KPD employees, both uniform and civilian. They are cross-trained to perform all functions within the Budget and Payroll office. They also maintain records of all KPD uniform expenditures and work to ensure officers receive their maximum uniform allotment.

Chief Owen said, "Both of these employees acted quickly and proficiently to process the paperwork to enable our officers to respond to the plea for help during the Hurricane Katrina Crisis as well as the paperwork performed here in Knoxville with the flood of displaced citizens."

Mayor Haslam said, "We are grateful for their dedication to their job and to the citizens of Knoxville. They are deserving of this special recognition."

Chief Owen said, "Due to their hard work, the office runs efficiently and smoothly. They are exemplary employees and are deserving of the Employee of the Month award."

Both employees will receive a signed certificate from the Mayor and Chief along with a free dinner from Ruby Tuesday Restaurant.
