Posted: 01/18/2005
The City of Knoxville will be accepting applications from non-profit organizations and public agencies for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds made available to the City by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The grants are designed to help fund projects related to neighborhood stabilization, crime prevention and safety; housing rehabilitation; home ownership; job creation and the homeless and chronic homeless.

About $700,000 is available for distribution.

A mandatory technical assistance workshop for potential applicants will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 at the Williams Creek Golf "Wee" Course, at 2335 Dandridge Ave. Applications from organizations that do not have a representative at this workshop will not be considered for funding.

For agencies that require further assistance, City staff will provide individual assistance to agencies interested in applying on Feb. 1 and Feb. 3 at the City County Building. To reserve a time on these days, please contact Marcy Griffin at 865-215-3900.

Completed application forms must be received no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. For more information contact: contact Diana Lobertini, Marcy Griffin, or Kevin DuBose at 865-215-2120.
